AN information caravan is to be set up at Mount Egerton next week in a last ditch bid to find information as to the disappearance of Albert Smith.

The 88-year-old went missing from a Ballan care centre on October 8. He has not been seen since October 9 when it is thought he was dropped off near the Morrisons Cemetery where his wife is buried.
Mr Smith’s family have made repeated public plea’s for information as to his disappearance.
It is understood Mr Smith was given a ride to Mount Egerton and has also hitched a ride to Morrison’s Cemetery. It is unconfirmed that he was seen near the cemetery around 3pm the following day.
The police dog squad have searched an area within 3km of the cemetery and family members have been paying constant vigils near the area, and near his Mount Doran home in a hope of finding some clue to his disappearance.
The information caravan will be set up at Mount Egerton on Tuesday and Wednesday. Daughter Wendy Smith told The Courier earlier this month there was a genuine fear the family would never know what happened to their dad.
“It’s awful to think we may never know what happened,” she said. “Of course we’re all thinking the worst. We’re no closer to finding out the truth. The only peace I get now is when I’m up at the cemetery looking for him.”
