Ballarat’s decision to take on Learmonth under lights on Friday night proved a winning move, with the side extending its lead at the top of the division one weekend pennant bowls ladder.
The league pace-setters prevailed on their home green by eight shots, 105-97.
Ballarat has moved further clear at the summit after second-placed Creswick lost at the weekend.
The Wickers were beaten by Central Wendouree.
Learmonth remains third, while Ballarat Memorial Sports stayed inside the top four after beating Mt Xavier.
The BMS outfit claimed a seven-shot win away from home and now holds a 14-point lead on Mt Xavier, which is fifth.
Elsewhere on Saturday afternoon, Smeaton claimed just its second success of the season when it defeated Webbcona.
The Smeaton team triumphed by six shots and claimed three rink wins in the process.
Ballarat East was also rejoicing on Saturday after defeating City Oval by a solitary shot.
That was the Two Blues’ second success for the season, but it was unable to lift the side off the bottom of the ladder.
