A ute is reported to have crashed into a power pole on the wrong side of the road, having veered across two lanes of oncoming traffic.
The ute was travelling south-bound, towards Buninyong, when it crashed about 11.24am.
The car has taken out a small pine tree in the median strip of Albert Street and then hit a power pole on the side of the Ballarat-bound lanes.
Ballarat Highway Patrol Sergeant Stuart Gale said despite the serious of the incident, it could have been far worse.

"It's been a pretty hectic scene with live powerlines across Albert Street," he said.
"Thankfully no other vehicles were involved."
There are power lines down in the area and people are advised to seek alternate routes.
John Montano, who owns near by Jades Hair Design, witnessed the incident and was first on scene.
He said he saw the car take out the tree, driving into oncoming traffic.

"It's a miracle there wasn't a car coming along at the same time because it would've been a head-on," he said.
It is understood there were two elderly people in the car.
An Ambulance Victoria said at least one patient was being treated at the scene in a serious condition, but did not have any further information.
