The Michael Stanley-trained trotter finished third in a heat of the series in Ballarat on Tuesday night to move herself up the overall standings.
She is now rated eighth leading into the last round of heats at Cranbourne on Saturday. The top 12 horses make the group 1 final on December 15.
Driven by Ryan Duffy, Sky Petite settled behind the leader Illawong Armstrong and dived through along the sprint lane to run third, beaten 2.5m by winner Kyvalley Blur in a track record mile rate of 1.55.6min.
“Even though we wanted to hold the front... at the end of the day points are the main priority. And you don’t want to gut her holding the front and (then) running eighth,” Stanley said.
“He made the right decision in letting that one go (Illawong Armstrong) and making sure he could maximise the points, so that was great.”
Tornado Valley was an impressive winner of heat two on Tuesday night in a mile rate of 1.56.1min.
