The event, now in its eighth year, is set to attract more than 1000 people to the school grounds.
Principal Mark McLay said the event had become a regular favourite on the Ballarat calendar, providing parents the opportunity to browse more than 150 market stalls for their Christmas shopping, while children enjoy Santa Land, rides, entertainment and show bags.
Mr McLay said many volunteer parent hours made the school’s only fundraising event of the year a success each year.
“It is very much all hands on deck as far as the parents go. Involvement started weeks ago and it will go right up to the event,” Mr McLay said.
Staff expect to raise more than $20,000 for home reader books and additional work around the school.
The Christmas Fest by the Lake will run from 5pm to 9pm on Friday at Pleasant Street Primary School, Lake Wendouree.
There are no specific arrangements for parking for the event. All purchases from food stalls will contribute to fundraising efforts.
