The Creswick-based course burst back onto the high level golf scene early this year, hosting its first major tournament since giving up the rights to the Victorian PGA Championship after the 2013 edition.

The inaugural RACV Goldfields Legends Pro-Am has been cancelled, while the RACV Goldfields Super6 has been moved to a November 16-17 timeslot. This event was held for the first time in January this year.

PGA of Australia tournament coordinator Heath McLeod said the date shift was to help make it easier for the course to be prepared, before the summer months dried it out.

“At the end of a hot summer the golf course is pretty firm and takes extra effort to get it up,” McLeod said.

“It will be a bit easier for them in November.”

McLeod said the inaugural Creswick Super6 competition – a unique two-day event that concludes with six-hole match play elimination – was well received and a number of similar events had been added to the PGA calendar on the back of its success.

He said the RACV Goldfields Legends Pro-Am had been cancelled due to there being no date that suited both the tour and the golf club.
