Ross Fuller, 47, was caught with a total of 276 grams of cannabis – 26 grams over the traffickable quantity – in various locations in his house on September 3.
Police were at Fuller’s property on an unrelated matter when they could smell the cannabis and executed a search warrant.
The long-term cannabis user pleaded guilty at the Ballarat Magistrates Court on Friday to two charges, including possessing a traffickable quantity of cannabis.
Defence lawyer David Tamanika said the cannabis was for personal use which his client used for joint pain.
Magistrate Letizia Torres said she would sentence Fuller on the basis the cannabis was for his personal use.
He was convicted and fined $800 because he had a prior conviction.
