A four kilometre section of the highway, from 200m north of Weatherboard Road to 100m beyond the Queen St intersection, will have its speed limit reduced from 80kmh to 60kmh.
Shirlene Laurie, whose daughter Justyce, 10, was severely injured after being hit by a car on the highway in July, spearheaded the campaign and welcomed the drop when roads minister Luke Donnellan made the announcement in October.

New signage will be installed along the Sunraysia Highway alerting drivers to the new speed zone, which takes effect on Tuesday.
“I’m ecstatic. It’s so good for the whole community and it does show that as a community if you do push for something that you feel is right for the community, you can achieve it,” Ms Laurie said.
The speed limit change in Learmonth comes as a similar proposal is being considered for Remembrance Drive in Ballarat, which has been the site of a string of serious accidents over the past few months.
