Fancy singing along to some Christmas classics with a drink in hand … and not by candlelight?
Two Bar Choir sessions this week will bring Ballarat voices together to sing the contemporary Christmas classics Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas, and Paul Kelly’s How to Make Gravy.
Mary Card and Paige Duggan, who brought the bar choir concept to Ballarat this year, will run one singalong at the Lost Ones Basement Bar on Wednesday night, and a larger event at Ballarat Trades Hall on Friday.
“It’s pure Christmas fun,” Ms Card said. “It’s an amazing feeling to sing together.”
Ms Card said Ballarat had embraced the Bar Choir concept. “I think people want to sing, want to engage in music in a non-intimidating way because it’s a really easy thing to do. You don’t have to read music or have any special skills. You just roll up and we do the rest.”
The Lost Ones bar choir night on Wednesday December 12 from 7.30pm, singing All I Want for Christmas, is free with a gold coin donation to the Soup Bus. The Trades Hall event on Friday December 14 from 7pm will feature How to Make Gravy and has a $10 entry to raising money for WRISC family violence support services.
