The Melbourne-bound truck lost control in wet weather and rolled on the median strip at Gordon about 6am today.
Luckily, it came to rest less than a metre from the oncoming traffic on the far side of the strip.
The driver has suffered minor injuries and has been taken to Ballarat Base Hospital, according to firefighters at the scene.
One Ballarat-bound lane has been blocked to traffic, while the Melbourne-bound lanes remain unaffected.
The truck was believed to have been empty.
Police at the scene said it appeared the truck had aquaplaned in wet conditions.
There has been consistent rain overnight in Ballarat and police are urging all drivers to take extra precaution this morning.
There has been 7.4mm of rain recorded at the Ballarat airport overnight, with between 10-20mm forecast today.
