Almost all of Ballarat’s government secondary schools have increased their median VCE study scores, a reflection of improvement in achievement levels in the school.

The biggest improver was Ballarat Secondary College’s Mount Rowan campus with a median study score of 26, up three points from last year.
Mount Clear College boosted their median study score by two points to 26, with Phoenix P-12 Community College and Ballarat High both improving one point to 27 and 29 respectively.
St Patricks College was the only non-government score to improve their median study score, up one to 30.
VCE scores are assessed on a scale of 0 to 50 in all studies with the average study score across the state at 30. The median is the middle score when all the study scores obtained by students of the school are ranked from highest to lowest
A study score of 40 or above places a student among the top eight per cent in the state.
Ballarat Clarendon College achieved one of the state’s highest median study scores at 36, down 1 point from last year, but had the highest percentage of study scores of 40 or over with 27.5 per cent of scores above the high-achieving benchmark.

Study scores at Ballarat Grammar and Loreto were both stable at 32 and 31.
Damascus College and Ballarat Christian College both saw small drops.
