Lake Imaging is one of the Ballarat business communities’ many success stories, and they will add another chapter to their story with a move to new premises.
The development of the practice in the St John of God Hospital into one of the largest private comprehensive radiology sites in regional Australia means Lake Imaging moved out of 801 Mair Street earlier this week.
That location was out of one of the oldest private radiology sites in Victoria.
From December 27 dental and general x-ray services will be available at Howitt Street and general x-ray services will be available at St John of God Hospital. Dental x-ray services will be available at the hospital from mid February.
The business began as Radsonic, a single site private radiology practice in Mair Street in 1979, evolved into the first purpose built private radiology site in Ballarat at Howitt Street as Lake Imaging in 2002, then listed as Integral Diagnostics on the ASX in 2015.
The group is now one of the largest private radiology providers in regional and rural Australia.
Lake Imaging has always been an important part of the Ballarat Medical and Healthcare Communities and the broader community of Ballarat.
“Delivering the best in quality radiology services to the people of the Ballarat region was always our mission,” Dr Bob House, one of the founding partners of Radsonic, said.
Many of the Radsonic and Lake Imaging team who were with Lake Imaging from the early stages continue to work in Ballarat, such as Dr. Alex Meakin, Radiologist and Sybil Hatherell, Site Manager, Howitt Street, Ballarat.
Brooke Hazlett, Technical Operations Leader, Ballarat, grew up in the region.
“The growth from being two sites at Mair and Howitt Streets, to 26 sites in the Ballarat, Geelong, Melton, Sunbury and Warrnambool regions ensures Lake Imaging is uniquely placed to deliver high quality, affordable radiology services to regional and rural Victorians,” she said.
Dr. Stefan Khosh moved with his family to Ballarat in 2014 to join Lake Imaging to “be part of the most innovative and dynamic Radiology organisations in Australia and be able to raise my family in a regional city was a unique opportunity.
“I am excited to be working on ground breaking information technology and radiology projects that are unique to Lake Imaging”.
General Manager Dan Hilbert said that while it was sad to leave Mair Street, being part of the Integral Diagnostics Group allows them to invest in the latest technology and best service for the people of Ballarat.
“It is a great reward for 30 years of hard work by many people and the great support of the people of Ballarat,” he said.
