He is referring to the troubled, once tabooed, area of family violence.
The figures are still bad, a clear indicator of how much work needs to be done but according to Inspector Davison it is the attitude that has changed. It is a credit to VicPol and all the agencies involved.
While this is no cause for complacency, it is heartening to think how far as a community we have come from the days when this most common of problems was shunned, ignored or simply not reported.
Again it shows a community that faces up to its problems is the one best equipped to deal and heal them.
