According to Ballarat police Inspector Dan Davison we are seeing some real improvements in one of our biggest law and order issues.
He is referring to the troubled, once tabooed, area of family violence.
The figures are still bad, a clear indicator of how much work needs to be done but according to Inspector Davison it is the attitude that has changed. It is a credit to VicPol and all the agencies involved.
While this is no cause for complacency, it is heartening to think how far as a community we have come from the days when this most common of problems was shunned, ignored or simply not reported.
Again it shows a community that faces up to its problems is the one best equipped to deal and heal them.
For our loyal subscribers here is a first glimpse at how Inspector Davison sees the year just completed.
There is hope there for the year to come.
We also hope readers, whether you are in Ballarat enjoying the cycling or some other restful weekend activity or taking a well earned break elsewhere, that you too enjoy the new year.
