Observatory member Graeme Knight said this was about expanding scientific programs on offer in a bid to encourage children to think bigger when it comes to science, technology, mathematics and engineering fields. He said electronics was a good tie-in to the observatory’s work.
This is the first time Ballarat Observatory has ventured into an electronics program.
Beginners, aged seven-plus, have the chance to learn about electrical circuits, electronic fundamentals and make a solar grasshopper to take home.
Crazy crickets and frogs are on the agenda for those aged nine and up to build on the basics and learn how to solder. Those wanting to test their skills can build a skeet game in a third workshop offering. Workshops one and two are on Wednesday with a full-day skeet-building workshop on Thursday.
Classes are small. More: observatory.ballarat.net.
