Bacchus Marsh opening batsman Alex Porter is the latest recipient of the Central Highlands region’s Cricket Willow UK scholarship.
He will spend a season with Houghton Main Cricket Club in the South Yorkshire league premier division from April.
The 20-year-old has already amassed 300-plus runs in the Gisborne District association premier firsts this season.
Porter is also Bacchus Marsh club secretary, which he combines with Bachelor of Sport Management and Business studies at Federation University in Ballarat.
Houghton Main Cricket Club and the Tinetti family at Cricket Willow are the major sponsors of the scholarship, which features a return airfare and full kit of Jabaroo cricket gear valued at $1000.
