The Ballarat and City Oval clubs hosted the annual Ballarat District Bowls Division fundraiser, with each attracting 24 teams on Sunday.
A total of 192 bowlers contested two games of 11 ends, with John Maher, Elizabeth Kierce, Lisa Jones and Rob Storey making up the winning rink at Ballarat.
Buninyong’s Barb and Ian Voigt, and Paddy and Ian McGregor were runners-up.
Ballarat junior Gold Diggers’ Oscar Jones, and Madison and Adam Hollingworth, together with their veteran mentor Jim Waight won at City Oval with two strong performances.
The Waubra combination of Sam Stepnell, Gwen Molloy, Peter Goldsmith and John MacDonald were runners-up.
The day’s resting touchers were awarded to Maxine Rouse and Trish Speechley.
This was the 32nd running of event, which has raised more than $90,000 for Heartbeat, which supports heart patients and their carers.
The best junior bowlers from across the state will go head-to-head at Daylesford on Wednesday.
Daylesford Bowling Club is again the venue for the annual junior provincial championships.
Ballarat District Bowls Division has selected Oscar Jones, Michael Booth, James Molloy, Ethan Kennedy, William Matthews, Sophie Kurzman, Josh Stepnell, Adam and Madison Hollingworth, and Dusty and Harley Irwin to represent the Ballarat Gold Diggers.
It is a big time of the year for Ballarat District youngsters.
The BDBD junior singles championships will be played at Webbcona on Sunday, January 20.
The competition is open to all BDBD juniors.

COL Johnson and Jacob Croft will meet in the BDBD men’s singles champion of champions in a twilight timeslot at East Ballarat on Friday, January 18.
They won through the knockout phase at Central Wendouree on Saturday and semi-finals at Mt Xavier on Sunday.
Central Wendouree champion Johnson had a close semi-final win over Victoria’s Scott Hollingworth, Midlands Golf’s Jacob Croft defeated Beaufort’s Stephen Topp.
BDBD weekend pennant season resumes on Saturday after the Christmas-New Year break.
