FIRE crews are on the scene of a large hay stack fire near Carisbrook, east of Maryborough.

Eight trucks are on the scene at Baringhup Road near the corner of Hurses Lane with up to 400 bales understood to be burning.
The CFA says the fire is contained to a shed and at this stage is unlikely to spread to grassland, but is generating a lot of smoke.
The fire could burn for up to two days.
“Smoke will be visible from nearby roads and communities as firefighters pull apart the hay to extinguish the fire,” the CFA said.
“There is no immediate threat to the community and no action is required.
