There were 17 units involved in fighting the blaze at one point.
Although it never provided any danger to people in the area, it proved difficult to fight from the ground.
1.25pm: There are currently 14 units tackling the blaze, which is burning in difficult terrain.
The fire is still listed as being “not yet under control”.
It has now been burning for more than an hour.
12.30pm: Air support has been called in to help fight a fire in a pine plantation to the south of Linton.
The fire is burning in Happy Valley, near Happy Valley crossing Road.
There are currently 10 CFA tankers fighting the blaze, with air support and tankers also requested.
It is not yet known how the blaze started.
The temperature is currently only 19 degrees in Ballarat, with cool southerly winds.
The CFA has put out an advice warning and says there is no threat to nearby communities.
“There is currently no threat to you, but you should stay informed and monitor conditions,” the message reads.
