The Bureau of Meteorology predicts a top of 36 degrees in Ballarat on Monday, 39 degrees on Tuesday and 38 degrees on Wednesday.
CFA has reported a very high fire danger rating for the central district for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Total fire bans have not been issued.
District 15 operations manager Brett Boatman said it was important residents played their part in minimising risk by not using equipment outside during a heatwave.
“We highly discourage anyone doing anything relating to cleaning up properties on fire danger days,” he said.
“It needs to be done on a cooler day, before 10am, with heavy dew from the night before.”
Firefighters will be on alert during the very high fire danger period with helicopter support ready as part of regular frontline capacity.
The forecast high risk days come after firefighters were kept busy at small fires around the region at the weekend.
Firefighters attended a fire at a property at Yandoit Hills, north of Daylesford on Saturday afternoon.
A small fire at Clunes was quickly brought under control on Sunday afternoon after a warning alert was issued to nearby residents.
A small grass fire at Ross Creek was brought under control within five minutes on Sunday at 2.30pm.
Forecast temperatures for Tuesday are nearing the threshold for conditions that will impact on health, according to the Department of Health.
The department reminds residents to check on others on hot days. Children and the elderly can be at risk.
