Sarah Braybrook (Webbcona) and Marie Russell (Avenue) claimed the title at Sebastopol and now progress to next month’s regional finals.
They defeated Jenny Shepherd (Webbcona) and Jenny Toose (Smeaton) in the final, with Shepherd substituting Webbcona’s Ann Draffin, who was unable to play.
Braybrook and Russell defeated City Oval pair Jenny Harman and Elizabeth Kierce in the semi-finals and Shepherd and Toose overcame Helen Slater and Yvonne Clark (Buninyong).
Braybrook and Russell took shots on the first five ends before Toose and Shepherd got on the board.
By end 10 Braybrook and Russell led 11-6 and the foundation for the win was set.
Braybrook led the way, producing brilliantly consistent bowling throughout the match.
THE BDBD women’s state singles championship begin at Sebastopol on Sunday.
The next of the feature events begins with registration is at 9.30 am and roll-up 9.40am, with play to start at 10am.
