Ballarat ended Geelong’s stranglehold on the annual representative clash at Central Wendouree.
Geelong to a six-shot advantage to the lunch break, but from there the encounter developed into a neck-an-neck contest.
Ballarat worked away to a 14-shot lead with only a few ends to play.
Geelong rallied, but the BDBD reigned supreme 182 -172 with its best rink comprising Frank Clarke, Keith Chapman, Beau Trail and Scott McLean.
Paul Carlyle, Darren Britt, Jacob Croft and Peter Morris were a key to turn around for Ballarat in the afternoon. After being well beaten in their morning game, they had a convincing 18-shot win in the afternoon.
Chris Thornton became the first Bungaree representative to play for the BDBD.
Bungaree coach John Maher said it was great to see a young bowler from his club playing the game at an elite level.
CENTRAL Wendouree’s Col Johnson and Midlands Golf’s Jacob Croft will meet in the BDBD singles champion of champions final at East Ballarat on Friday from 5pm.
BDBD Country Week is at Central Wendouree from Tuesday, February 12, to Friday, February 15.
Roll-up will be at 9.15am for a 9.30am start.
All entries are to be forwarded to BDBD treasurer Ken Birch by Monday, February 4.
THE BDBD state men’s singles championship begins at Buninyong on Sunday.
