Regional Roads Victoria and City of Ballarat want to hear what you have to say regarding potential changes to six high-volume incident intersections along Sturt Street.

The State Government on January 4 released the new options for long overdue upgrades to the six intersections which have seen at least 86 crashes and more than 130 injuries from those incidents in the past 10 years.
These options include a double U-turn intersection which would eliminate the ability to directly cross Sturt Street, the installation of traffic lights which would in theory stop cars from colliding or the extension of the median strip down the centre of the street.
It is expected a combination of all three could be used dependent on feedback received.
Residents have been invited to voice their opinions on the issue at some upcoming community information sessions.
Business owners at either side of the intersection at Ascot Street and Sturt Street are against the plans to not allow cars to travel straight across Sturt Street.
“Extending the median strip or shutting down the intersection would kill local businesses,” Ian Tantau from Country Casseroles said.
“I’m all for doing something to make the intersection safer. I believe traffic lights would be the best option because something needs to be done.”
Ballarat West LPO manager Alyson Rose agreed changes could hurt her business.
The community information sessions will take place at the Zillies Room inside the Golden City Hotel on Thursday 24 January between 10am – 1pm and 4pm – 7pm.
