The Bulldogs fine-tuned their game against Collingwood on Mars Stadium on Saturday, coming away with a 5.5 (35) – 4.4 (28) victory.
Coach Paul Groves said it was nice to get a hard-fought and tightly contested game, but the scoreboard was not as an important in these practice matches.
“It was a pretty contested, hard game,” Groves said.
“That’s the most pleasing thing for us, a lot of that individual development has really come along.
“The result in these games is a little irrelevant because we do change the team around a bit.”
Groves praised the club’s connection with Ballarat, looking forward to playing a game here for premiership points in the future.
“We always enjoy it, the stadium’s amazing.
“It’s Bulldog territory up here now...once the (AFLW) season expands, no doubt we’ll be able to get here for a four (premiership) points game.
