BUNINYONG recruit David Ellis again made his presence felt with the bat, helping rescue the Bunnies’ innings and guide them to an impressive total on day one of its Ballarat Cricket Association first grade clash against Golden Point.

Ellis made 83 coming in at number eight, backing up his 53 last week.
Ellis came to the crease with Buninyong in strife at 6-90, by the time he departed the scoreboard read 8-226. The Bunnies eventually putting on 9-268 after 80 overs.
Ellis was well supported by fellow lower-order batsman Harrison Bond, who was unbeaten on 50, also finding form last week with 34 runs.
Bailey Van De Heuvel was the pick of the Pointies bowlers, taking 4-70.
WENDOUREE put itself in the box seat against ladder leader East Ballarat.
Stephen Segrave took 5-37 to help bowl the Hawks out for 177 runs, John Butler (3-29) also bowling well.
Captain Gavin Webb said Segrave, who has been in and out of the firsts side, was ‘exceptional’, filling the void left by the unavailable Ryan Simmonds. Webb was pleased to restrict the top side to such a total, giving it a great chance to claim a big scalp.
“We’d take that at the start of the day,” Webb said.
“But the old story is the job’s half done, we’ll have to really apply ourselves (next week).
“Obviously we’ve got to bat our overs, if we do that we’ll be thereabouts.”
Matt Smith returned after an extended period of time on the sidelines. His expertise with the bat will be vital next week, but his fielding was impressive on Saturday, including a direct-hit run out of dangerous batsman Harry Ganley.
The Red Caps will have a great opportunity to further cement its spot in the top four next week.
MT CLEAR piled on 291 runs against Brown Hill.
Matt Ward made an unbeaten 91, helping surge the side towards a formidable total on Saturday. Nathan Yates also enjoyed a quality day with the bat making 72.
Promising youngster Dylan York took 3-55 for the Bulls.
ANTHONY Taylor (86 runs) and Dan Scott (37) fought hard to get Napoleons-Sebastopol to a total of 187 against Darley.
Taylor was the pace-setter with the bat, out there for 119 balls while Scott dug in, making his 37 off 150 deliveries.
Hasitha Wickramasinghe and Ben Longhurst did all the damage, taking 6-45 and 4-50 respectively.
The Lions are in the box seat to take the points, as they look to keep their finals hopes alive.
NORTH Ballarat is in full control against Ballarat-Redan.
North bowled Two Swords out for 140 runs, Ash McCafferty taking 4-45.
In response, North sits comfortably at 2-77, Leigh Lorenzen (31) and Connor Miles (7) at the crease.
