The opening round of the CHFL season – as it did in 2017 – falls on the last weekend of the BCA season.
While this will force people involved in grand finals to choose between cricket and football, the clash has also brought about a logistical issue for the BCA.
The BCA had planned to hold its third grade decider at Buninyong on the weekend of March 30 and 31, however the Bombers are scheduled to open their 2019 CHFL campaign against Bungaree at the ground on the Saturday.
BCA operations officer Greg Wakeling is hoping there can be a resolution to the clash.
“We’ve started the consultation process between the Central Highlands Football League and (City of Ballarat) council and will work with all parties to get the best solution for everyone,” Wakeling told The Courier.
“We are certainly not out to cause any fights or issues… it’s really only that ground clash.”
The CHFL’s 2019 season starts a week earlier than normal due to a grand final scheduling issue at Mars Stadium.
CHFL administrator Diane Ryan said the competition’s big day had to be moved from September 14 because the Ballarat league junior grand finals had been booked on the same weekend.
This saw the CHFL grand final booked for September 7 and therefore the entire season brought forward by a week.
