The Hawks proved too good for the Wickers in a battle of the leading teams in the competition, winning by 12 shots.
Skippers Beth Huntley and Gerry Flapper both won their rinks for Creswick, but a big victory from Wayne Roberts and his team helped City Oval get the points away from home.
Creswick, which won the clash between the two teams back in round five, is still second on the table but now only holds a two-point lead on third-placed Avenue. City Oval has bolted 31 points ahead at the summit with four home and away rounds remaining.
Avenue was the round’s biggest points-getter after claiming all 16 on offer in the battle with Clunes.
The Bacchus Marsh-based side won the match by 31 shots.
Central Wendouree shot back into the top four thanks to victory over Buninyong.
The Bears, which were playing at home, won two rinks and drew the other in a 20-shot triumph.
Elsewhere, Midlands Golf was strong winners in the showdown with Daylesford.
David Speechley and Paul Carlyle skippered winning rinks for Midlands, while Dot Bull picked up the only points for Daylesford.
The round’s other clash saw Sebastopol prevail in a bottom-of-the-table fixture with Smeaton.
The Kookaburras climbed up over Daylesford and into eighth position following the 74-58 success.
There will be no play in the Ballarat District Bowls Division next Monday with a break due to the Australia Day public holiday.
