Victoria Police have released a statement regarding the attempted armed robbery in Sebastopol:
“Ballarat Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating an attempted armed robbery at a fast food outlet in Sebastopol last night (21 January).
Investigators have been told a masked man entered a pizza store on Albert Street about 11pm and produced a knife before making demands for cash.

The attendant ran from the offender, who quickly left empty-handed and fled on foot along Rubicon Street.
It is believed he may have been headed towards Elsworth Street, Mount Pleasant.
No one was injured during the incident.
Police have today released images and CCTV footage of a man who they believe can assist with their inquiries.
He is perceived as Caucasian in appearance and about 180cm tall with a medium build.
The man was wearing a blue Fila cap, black jacket, black pants and black and white Nike runners.”

EARLIER
A MAN is wanted over an attempted armed robbery at Domino’s in Sebastopol overnight.
About 11pm a man burst into the Albert Street store, waving a knife and demanding cash .
Senior Constable Scott Howard said the man was spooked while in the store and ran away with nothing.
He is described as being caucasion, about 180cm tall with a medium build.
He was wearing dark clothing, dark runners and was holding a material over his face.
It follows two alleged armed robberies in a similar area in October, when Hungry Jacks and the Sebastopol Bowling Club were hit by thieves with knives.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage of the incident, but at this stage believe it is a one-off incident.
