Three people were charged over the alleged incident at an Edwardes Street address on October 9.
Police allege the victim was burnt with a steel rod, had his leg cut with a wooden saw, was injected with a syringe and raped with a wooden axe handle.
Bradley Cassells, 25, Tina Cations, 34, and Patrick Meizys, 24, allegedly interrogated the victim because they wanted to know the location of a USB device, which contained a file.
Cations and Meizys fronted the Ballarat Magistrates Court separately via audio visual link on Thursday for a committal mention.
The court was told a number of witnesses would be called to give evidence, including the alleged victim and a forensic doctor.
The contested committal hearing will be held over two days in May.
Cations and Meizys were remanded in custody until the hearing.
Meizys asked the court if he had to wear a suit to the hearing before the link was cut off.
Cassells, who is also in custody will appear at the Ballarat Magistrates Court in February for a committal mention.
