Council officers are recommending City of Ballarat councillors approve the planning permit, which includes extending the licensed area to the spectator stand in front of the club and extended licensed hours.
North Ballarat Sports Club has an approved full club liquor licence under the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation for the first floor of the club and smokers’ deck.
This extension would allow the club some outside space for functions and alfresco dining, according to the report to go before council.
A redeveloped Mars Stadium was opened in late July 2017, ahead of the first AFL premiership season match in Ballarat. The new concourse and spectator seating outside the club was part of the redevelopment works.
Mars Stadium will once again host two AFL matches this premiership season with home team Western Bulldogs to host Brisbane Lions on May 11 and Adelaide for a round 23 fixture.
Melbourne Rebels will play a Super Rugby hit-out against Queensland Reds at Mars Stadium on Friday.
