Tallent smashed US all-comers 50km record in San Diego and then described as absurd that the distance was not an Olympic event.
Tallent is the wife of Ballarat Olympic gold medallist Jared Tallent.
The IAAF has recommended adding the event to the Olympic program, but the IOC has not approved it.
Tallent, 37, finished second in the mixed walk, beaten only by David Velasquez from Ecuador
“You can’t tell me that I’m any less deserving than my husband for having a shot at Olympic glory,” she said.
She easily beat the qualifying standard for the World Athletics Championships in Qatar, in September.
