Blackiston had been considering the possibil;ity of a move for sometime.
He is aiming to make the move within the next few weeks.
Blackiston joins a long line of trainers to have chosen to either relocate to or set up satellite stables in Ballarat, and launch their training careers at Dowling Forest, such as Nick Smart, Matt Cumani, Symon Wilde, Henry Dwyer, Archie Alexander and Tom Carberry.
This in addition to the training partner of Ciaron Maher and David Eustice choose to acquire the former stable of Darren Weir in the past week.
Blackiston has had almost 350 winners, including four group 1s, since taking up training in 1994.
Originally from England, he spent time in Dubai and in his early days in Australia spent time as a foreman for Bart Cummings.
Blackiston trained at Cranbourne for three years before moviung to Flemington in 2003.
