Australian classical vocal ensemble The Song Company will bring the music of the choirbook in to the modern era at the Art Gallery of Ballarat with its performance Treble Helix Unlocked.

The 10-member choir will perform music from the Eton Choirbook while gathered around an ornate replica of the original choirbook.

“The singers are performing from the original musical notation of the magnificent Eton Choirbook. Not only does this mean a different look and feel from a normal choral concert – they will be standing around a central music stand, all reading from the same black and red dots - but it also means that they are getting as tightly as possible into the shoes of our musical ancestors,” said the company’s general manager Thomas Drent.
