Dodds, who took a break from football last year, has committed to the Roos for the 2019 Central Highlands Football League campaign.
Waubra coach Matt James confirmed the pacy winger was back at the club and was pleased to add some experience to a young playing list.
Dodds was one of the players that helped deliver Waubra its breakthrough premiership in 2006 – snapping a mammoth 24-year drought in the process – before backing it up in 2011 when the senior side secured the flag in a famous treble, which included reserves and under-18 grand final triumphs.
He last played for Waubra in 2017 under Grant Luscombe.
James, who is gearing up for his second season at the helm after taking the Roos to a preliminary final last year, was also upbeat about the signing of former Redan premiership winner Ryan Head.
Head is expected to play a role as a ruckman and makes the move from Euroa in the Goulburn Valley competition.
He played just a handful of matches for Euroa’s senior side in 2018.
James, the reigning Central Highlands Football League coach of the year, said the narrow preliminary final loss to Buninyong in August hurt the playing group.
“We weren’t far off last year, but that doesn’t mean we get to walk back to a preliminary final even if the team potentially looks better on paper,” James told The Courier.
“I think the three-point loss stung a lot of the players and they are keen to go one step better this year.”
The signing of Dodds and Head add to the recent acquisition of dual Waubra premiership player John Coleman, who is back this season.
Coleman has moved from the Sunraysia Imperials, where he last played in 2015.
Gun onballer Lincoln Barnes is also like a recruit after sitting out all of last year due to a knee injury.
The key departures at Waubra have been relatively minimal, with midfielder Nick Dinsdale one of the most significant players to leave the club.
Dinsdale has spent the last three seasons with the Roos, but has left for Heyfield in the North Gippsland league.
Waubra’s first game for the 2019 season is against Dunnstown on Saturday, March 30.
In a difficult start to the campaign, the Roos then must take on reigning premiers Beaufort and perennial powerhouse Hepburn.
