Reath is still basking in the glory of his victory at the 2019 Victorian Country Track and Field Championships, where he soared to a new career best to take gold in the men’s under-20 event.
The Ballarat Christian College year 12 student cleared the bar at 2.06m to score a decisive win over his rivals.
After jumping 2.06m, Reath unsuccessfully attempted 2.10m.
Reath’s previous best effort was 1.97m, which he bettered by 9cm at the titles.
The Victorian Country Track and Field Championships were held at La Trobe University Bendigo Athletics Complex during late January.
Reath was representing his club, the Ballarat YCW Harriers.
Ballarat Christian College community relations officer Ruth Orr said Reath is aiming to reach a new personal best mark of 2.20m and is training hard to achieve his goal.
Part of his training with the Harriers includes weights, running and bounding routines.
