Bill Woodgate is one of the men behind the push to get Foundry into the All-Star Mile at Flemington on March 16.
The horse, trained by Terry Kelly in Coghills Creek, was sixth on the leaderboard just before the blackout of standings started at 12pm Friday.
The top 10 horses as chosen by the public will make the field, along with four wildcard entries selected by Racing Victoria.
The race carries a $5million purse.
Woodgate said getting Foundry - bought by the group after his last preparation, which included a win in the group 1 Metropolitan - into the All-Star Mile "could change a lot of lives".
Woodgate asked the Ballarat community to vote for the horse by visiting allstarmile.com.au. Voting closes at 12noon on Monday.
