Powell attended one of Silva's MMA seminar's, expecting to simply take in some of the champions wisdom from a far, but he got much more than that.
During the seminar, Silva hand-picked Powell out of the 15-person crowd to demonstrate some of his moves - Powell was lost for words.
The young gun traded blows with Silva for half-an-hour, which he says was an "amazing" experience, struggling to put it in to words.
"I felt like a little girl at a Justin Bieber concert," Powell joked.
"It was amazing to do that with him.
"(you don't get that opportunity) with the greatest of all time often.
"He's my idol.
"He's the person that got me into mixed martial arts and to do this before my fight and have the chance to train with him was absolutely amazing.
"It was an absolutely amazing feeling, it's hard to explain - it was breath-taking.
"I was shaking with nerves and excitement.
"To shake his hand and throw punches back and forth was unbelievable."
The experience is something Powell will cherish for the rest of his life and said he learnt so much from world-renowned Silva.
This experience will no doubt go a long way to Powell's development and help him hone his craft ahead of next month's fight.
Powell will have a Muay Thai fight in his 68kg weight limit on March 24
Powell is training six nights a week in preparation for the fight.
He is feeling in great shape and while his opponent is yet to be finalised, he is confident regardless of who he faces.
"I feel absolutely great. I feel like I can definitely win, but that's the mindset you've got to have."
