A 21-year-old man who pleaded guilty to a string of offences, including burglaries, was sentenced to an eight month community corrections order.
Facing the Ballarat Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, Samuel Solomon Davidson was accused of unlicensed driving, burglaries across Kew, Croydon, Delacombe and Wendouree, and theft.
He was previously bailed in February after spending 114 days in custody.
His defence lawyer, Adam Maloney, said despite appearing for matters in the Childrens Court when he was younger, this was Davidson's first time in the Magistrates' Court, and since being bailed, he had been engaging with Court Integrated Services Programs.
Some of the matters were 27 months old, he added.
Magistrate Letizia Torres said she would take this into account, noting he had made "significant progress" since he had moved to Ringwood.
He was convicted and sentenced to an eight month community corrections order, which would include requirements for alcohol, drug, and mental health treatment.
His license was also suspended for six months.

A 21-year-old man has pleaded guilty to 26 offences, including burgling businesses, committed over two years in Ballarat and Melbourne.
Samuel Davidson, 21, appeared in the dock of the Ballarat Magistrates Court on Friday to plead guilty to the charges which included burglary, unlicensed driving and theft.
The court was told Davidson, who had substance abuse and anger problems, committed the offences from February 2017 to December 2018.
Davidson had been remanded in custody twice during that time.
Police prosecutor Leading Senior Constable Clint Prebble detailed the series of offending, which occurred in Kew, Croyden, Delacombe and Wendouree.
He said in Delacombe on October 7, 2017, two offenders accessed the cattle yards' office to steal a credit card which they then used to pay a taxi fare and at service stations.
The court was told the card was used to buy $79 worth of items at Sebastopol Apco while $70 was loaded onto a mobile phone, which police linked to Davidson.
In other offending on March 3, 2018, Leading Senior Constable Prebble said the accused smashed a window to gain access to Christies Furniture in Howitt Street.
He said Davidson cut himself on glass, leaving blood and fingerprints around the building. Davidson stole an Apple laptop computer and urinated on a table.
Defence barrister Adam Maloney said his client had no family support and was living in his car when the offences occurred.
He said Davidson had already spent 114 days in custody and urged the court to place him on the Court Integrated Services Program and defer sentence.
"This is a 21 year old vulnerable person who has been diagnosed in custody with a depressive disorder," Mr Maloney said. "(He) has served far too long in an adult prison."
Magistrate Letizia Torres agreed with the barrister's submissions and deferred sentence until April. She released Davidson on bail with strict conditions, including he comply with CISP.
