The truck will be used to set up a DJ booth throughout the night, with organisers hoping for one with some coverage so sound and music equipment can be safely stored in the case of bad weather.

Co-ordinator Lacie Ryan said the event, now in its 18^th year, was on track for a record turn out with more than 300 people already registered, with up  50 per cent of total competitors expected to register on the day.

“We had a trucking company on board and they have in the past donated us a semi trailer,” she said. 

“We always set it up with a DJ on there, it was all set to go but they came back to us on Tuesday saying that they had pulled out. 

“It’s been a mad rush ever since. We haven’t as yet had any success. We’ve been chasing up a few leads but nothing concrete as yet.

‘We’re not sure what’s happened, but we’re hoping to find a company we can develop a relationship with over the next couple of years and going forward into the future. So if there’s anyone out there that can help, please get in contact with us.”

The annual Relay For Life will be held from 3.45pm this Saturday and conclude at 10am on Sunday at Llanberris Reserve, York Street.

Already 28 teams have registered to be part of the event and have already raised more than $30,000 for the Cancer Council.

“Ballarat has raised more than $1 million over the years,” Ms Ryan said. “Traditionally, we raise around $70,000 to $100,000. Our goal this year is $80,000 but we’d love to get up somewhere near the $100,000.”

Ms Ryan said any company that could assist would be able to advertise during the event and would be able to be included in showbags and other fundraising materials distributed.
