Ballarat athletes Angelica Selkirk and Cooper Sherman enjoyed fantastic carnivals at the Little Athletics Regional Championships on the weekend.

The under-15 pair won four gold medals over the weekend, the maximum haul. Selkirk won the 100, 200m, long jump and triple jump while Sherman prevailed in the 100m, 200m, 100m hurdles and 300m.
In other Ballarat reuslts, under-9 athlete Oscar Spratling won three gold medals (100m, 70m and 60m hurdles). Under-10s Ivy Van Berkal also claimed three gold (discus, long lump and shot put) as well as a silver medal in the high jump. Under-14s Matthew O’Brien enjoyed a gold triple on the track, winning the 100m, 200m and 400m.
Ballarat also excelled in the racewalking with Frazer Saunder (U15 boys 1500m), Mia Darlow (U14 girls 1500m), Scott Peart (U13 boys 1500m), Jorja Tallent (U11 girls 1100m) and Harper Kane (U9 boys 700m) winning gold.
Buninyong rising star Lucy Jones, in the under-11 girls, took out gold in 400m, 800m and 1500m along with a silver in the triple jump. A great result for Jones and Buninyong, which is a new centre to the championships.
All these athletes will have a great chance of making the podium in the state championships on March 16-17.
Overall, Ballarat dominated the carnival claiming 88 gold medal, from its 194 medals. Well clear of second-placed Warrnambool with 21 gold medals. Buninyong won four gold medals.
