A 40-year-old has been admitted to hospital for a mental health assessment after a fire destroyed a house in Mount Doran overnight.

A house on Mount Doran-Egerton Road was completely destroyed during the incident which began just after 9pm.
The man was arrested at the scene and was admitted to hospital.
CFA crews from all around the district were called to the site, but were unable to save the house. They spent most of the night attempting to bring the fire under control.
Bacchus Marsh police investigators remain on the scene this morning.
At this stage, police are not looking for any other people involved in the fire.
