On Thursday, the horse was revealed as one of the 10 to qualify for the rich All-Star Mile based on the public vote.
Foundry was ranked sixth overall with 5558 votes.
This will see the Terry Kelly-trained galloper run in the inaugural $5million race at Flemington on March 16.
Part-owner Bill Woodgate was over the moon on Thursday and believed the horse was a good chance in the 1600m event.
"I think he's going to put himself right in contention for sure," he said.
Woodgate also thanked the Ballarat community for its support.
He said the ownership group, which purchased the ex-Lloyd Williams horse late last year, was made up of working-class Australians.
"There's a couple a shearers, builders, school teachers and a couple of grey nomads and retired farmers," he said.
"It's a good crew and good bunch of owners and everyone is just over the moon we've been able to get in."
Trainer Kelly is based just out of Learmonth and will have his first start with the horse in the All-Star Mile.
Happy Clapper was given the first of four wildcards into the race.
