The Hawks slumped to their fourth-straight defeat on the big stage, falling by 30 shots in Monday's match at Central Wendouree.
For Buninyong, the 82-52 triumph allowed the club to celebrate its first success in the top grade of midweek bowls.
Division one bowler Sandra Chapman said it was an "absolutely awesome" feeling to claim the flag.
"It's wonderful and a great thrill," Chapman told The Courier.
Buninyong had not beaten City Oval in any of the three previous meetings this season, which included a 22-shot defeat in the semi-final just a couple of weeks ago.
But the side produced some of its best bowls when it counted to clinch a memorable victory.
"We had a change in some of our skippers and tweaked the teams a little bit. It's been a good result," Chapman said.
"It was a really good team effort across the board."
David Draffin and Wayne Morgan were the winning skippers for Buninyong, while Wayne Roberts snared a one-shot win for City Oval in the other rink.
Also on the green at Central Wendouree, Buninyong's division three side claimed grand final success.
Buninyong proved too strong for Linton, winning by seven shots to secure the premiership double.
All other grand finals were played at Sebastopol Bowling Club on Monday.
In the division two encounter, it was Ballarat Memorial Sports that secured the flag with an 85-67 victory over Beaufort Golf.
The BMS outfit won two of the three rinks.
BMS also took out the division four decider with a 24-shot triumph in the battle with Smeaton.
Victoria (1) prevailed in the division five grand final, proving far too strong for Avenue.
Monday's grand finals brought an end to pennant competition in the Ballarat District Bowls Division for season 2018-19.
The Geelong-Ballarat Premier Bowls grand final will be played next weekend between Ocean Grove and Queenscliff.
