The McDonald's consultant for the region completed his seventh-straight Ride for Sick Kids on Tuesday afternoon. The four-day event, predominantly along the Great Ocean Road and Otway Ranges, this time finished at the new Ronald McDonald House in North Fitzroy.
Rooms offer out-of-town families a place to stay close to hospitals when their child is sick. Houses also offer learning programs to help children keep up to speed with school work.
Mr Nigro said Ronald McDonald houses help a lot of families across western Victoria. He said the ride was an important fundraiser budgeted into house operations but also a good awareness tool.
A lot of parents say they haven't heard about the house until they need it.

"It's always great at the finish to speak with parents and kids the house is helping," Mr Nigro said. "A lot of parents say they haven't heard about the house until they need it...On the ride people are asking us what we're doing and where we're going, so it's great awareness."
Riders aim to raise a collective $250,000 for Ronald McDonald House Charities each year. Mr Nigro said it was good to ride with like-minded people and travelling as one.
