A man accused of murdering a mother at Mount Pleasant in October will front a committal hearing a year after the incident. Scott Cameron was charged on October 6 with one count of murder over Dannyll Goodsell's death.
Emergency services authorities found Ms Goodsell's body on October 5 after a house fire at the corner of Kenworthy Place and Flockhart Street.
Firefighters allegedly found her body under a bed.
Cameron, of Mount Pleasant, appeared via video link at the Ballarat Magistrates Court on Thursday for a committal mention. The court was told Cameron may claim self-defence.
"The issue is self-defence, your honour," Cameron's barrister said.
Twelve prosecution witnesses will give evidence and be cross-examined at the committal hearing on October 8. The three-day committal hearing will be held at the Ballarat Magistrates Court.
Cameron, pictured left, who has been charged with one count of murder, was remanded in custody until the committal hearing.
