Butters has been named alongside fellow debutantes Xavier Duursma, Connor Rozee and Willem Drew in the side for Port Adelaide's round one clash with Melbourne.
The 18-year-old flashed some tantalising ability in an impressive showing in the Power's two pre-season outings, amassing 25 disposals against the Crows and booting four goals in a win against North Melbourne.
Butters played in Darley's 2017 Ballarat Football League senior premiership team at the age of 17.
See Butter's reaction when he told his family he had been selected.
Coach Ken Hinkley talked about his feelings regarding bringing Butters, Duursma, Rozee and Drew into Saturday's clash.
"It's incredibly exciting, there's no doubt about that," he said.
"They're not picked because they're young - they're picked because they can play good football already and we think they can certainly have an impact straight away."
