The Miners and Broncos entered Saturday's clash without a loss and at the first and second positions respectively on the ladder.
Both teams were sloppy with the ball, turning it over 16 times each, however it was Ballarat's dominance in the paint that proved the difference.
Miners big-man Amos Brooks continued his strong start to the season, tallying 17 points and 11 rebounds despite his free throw struggles continuing (3-11 on the night).
Jeremiah Mckenzie contributed a steadying performance for the Miners, logging 10 points, five assists, five steals and four rebounds in the win.
The Miners next game will see them up against fellow unbeaten team Casey Cavaliers at the Mars Miner Dome on Sunday, 31 March.
