Despite being far from as polished as they were at the height of their ground-breaking campaign last year, the Kangaroos were still too classy and powerful for Lake Wendouree at KFC Eastern Oval on Saturday.

East Point cut loose with an 11-goal last quarter to blow away a youthful Lakers by 101 points - 24.17 (161) to 9.6 (60).

Lake Wendouree was confident of finishing the better after improved third term.

Coach Dale Power stressed the importance of getting the opening two goals to keep the Lakers' momentum going.

However, it was East Point's Jordan Johnston who booted the first two majors in the opening two minutes and the match was gone.

Jordan went on to kick four for the term to give him five for the day.

It was new co-captain Brad Whittaker who led the way in attack with seven goals, while Bryson McDougall and Jacob Brown finished with three apiece.

Mickitja Rotumah-Onus continued his emergence as one of the competition's elite midfielders with a powerhouse display for the Kangaroos.

SEBASTOPOL survived a scare by Ballarat at Marty Busch Reserve in a night match.

The Burra was in full control at half-time - leading by 27 points.

The Swans turned the game on its head with a surging third quarter and drew level in the last term, only to see Sebastopol steady and get a 21-point win after two late goals.

NORTH Ballarat City overcame a wasteful display in front of goal to edge out Bacchus Marsh by 14 points.

City opened up with 1.8 in the first quarter before finishing the stronger with four last-term goals.

MELTON overcame a sluggish start to run away from Melton South by 52 points at Melton Recreation Reserve.

The Panthers were up and about in the first half, but could only add one goal after half-time time.

DARLEY showed poise to defeat Sunbury by 36 points at Darley Park.
