A man has died and another is fighting for his life after a shooting outside a Melbourne nightclub early Sunday morning.
Bloodstained clothing was left lying in the middle of a road alongside bullet casings outside the entrance of the second storey Love Machine nightclub.
Detectives and forensic police were scouring the area for clues.
No arrests have been made.
A total of four people were taken to hospital after the shooting outside the nightclub at 3.20am on Sunday.
Police believe multiple people were shot during the incident and say a 28-year-old man and another who is yet to be identified are in critical conditions.
A 50-year-old man and a 29-year-old man both sustained non-life threatening injuries.
It's believed one of the men received injuries to his face.
Edie, who lives in the nearby commission flats, says she didn't hear anything overnight.
She first heard about the shooting on the morning news and called on tougher gun laws.
"I think they should be stricter on the gun laws," she told reporters on scene.
Seven's Sunday Sunrise spoke with a security guard at the club said he had no idea there had been a shooting outside and there was no panic inside the venue, which was still operating.
Police are urging anyone with video footage of the incident or information to phone them or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
