The Rebels lost their fifth consecutive game at home to the Sandringham Dragons on Sunday afternoon by seven points, falling 33-26.
Coach Rhys Cahir said there were a lot of positives to come out of Sunday's loss, however a more consistent effort is needed to secure victories going forward.
"We set ourselves (a goal) to always play four quarters and we probably played three and three quarters today," he said.
"There was just a little patch in that third quarter where they pinched a break on us and to the girls credit they worked their tails off to get back within a kick.
"I'm very proud of their efforts with a few key outs but every girl stood up today and made a contest."
Captain Sophie Molan and key wing/half forward Isabella Simmons both missed the game due to commitments with the AFLW Academy.
Fellow leadership group members Ella Wood and Nekaela Butler were named captain and vice captain for the game and stepped up for their teammates.
"We put it on them early to stand up as leaders," said Cahir
"They're in the leadership group for a reason, they both stood up really well and I'm really proud of their efforts."
Wood put together a best-on-ground performance and remains confident the Rebels can finish the season strong.
Hear what Ella Wood had to say about her teams performance against Sandringham.
"I'm still confident we can do that - today we dropped our heads a bit after the game but we'll be ready to take action over the next few games," she said.
The Rebels next game will be on the road against the Gippsland Power on Saturday 27 April.
