And the powerful midfielder is set to play his first game for the club in the Good Friday showdown with Ballarat.
George, a life member of the Victorian Football League, has spent most of the pre-season training with the Lions but took some time to lodge his clearance papers.
The transfer has now been approved and he is available for selection.
George played more than 150 VFL games for the North Ballarat Roosters and had a short stint with Williamstown in 2018.
He is a past VFL representative and team of the year member.
Redan coach Jarrett Giampaolo said George's friendship with Lions big-man Orren Stephenson had been a major reason the club was able to secure the onballer, who shapes as a huge boost to the senior team's engine room in 2019.
Giampaolo said George had been a great asset during the pre-season and played well in a couple of the Lions' practice matches.
"He just sets the standard at training. His effort and intensity at training is as high as anyone I've played with," Giampaolo said.
While George is set to play on Friday, the Lions will be without a handful of key players, including Keenan Waterbury, Benjamin Smyth and Patrick Fitzgibbon.
Giampaolo said Waterbury had an interstate funeral to attend, Smyth was still recovering from shoulder surgery and Fitzgibbon was battling a heel issue.
Redan had the bye during the opening round of the Ballarat Football League season and will come up against a Ballarat outfit that was defeated by Sebastopol last weekend.
The Swans, now under the care of senior coach Joe Carmody, suffered a 21-point defeat in the night clash at Marty Busch Reserve.
Recruit Nick Weightman (hamstring) and Thomas Thewlis (shoulder) were the major injury concerns for Ballarat out of that round one fixture.
Both players are expected to miss Friday's match, which will be played in Alfredton from 2.15pm.
It is the only Ballarat Football League match scheduled this weekend.
